CORPORATE RECESS DRAGON BOAT ADVENTURES – WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY (2026)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. BY SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT YOU WAIVE CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE.

This waiver applies to participation in all dragon boat paddling sessions, practices, clinics, and related activities organized by Corporate Recess Dragon Boat Adventures in 2026, including on-water and on-shore warm-ups and team-building activities.

1. Assumption of Risk

I acknowledge that dragon boating and related activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to: capsizing or collision, slipping on docks or boats, cold water immersion, physical exertion, and changing weather conditions. I freely accept and assume all risks associated with participation.

2. Safety Requirements

I agree to follow all safety instructions and wear an approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD) at all times while on the water.

3. Release of Liability

In consideration of being permitted to participate, I release and forever discharge:

  • Corporate Recess Dragon Boat Adventures

  • Jeffrey Aldridge

  • Barrie Public Library

  • Barrie Dragon Boat Festival Committee

  • All affiliated directors, officers, employees, contractors, coaches, steerspersons, volunteers, and agents

from any claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising from my participation, including those caused by negligence.

4. Indemnity

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the above parties from any claims brought as a result of my participation.

5. Medical Treatment

I consent to emergency medical treatment if necessary and understand that reasonable care will be provided by staff or volunteers in case of injury or accident.

6. Parent/Guardian Consent (if under 18)

I am the parent or legal guardian of the participant and consent to their participation, accepting all terms above.

7. Media Release

I grant permission for photographs or video recordings taken during sessions to be used for promotional, marketing, and educational purposes without compensation.

8. Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario.
